The EduAId project unites a robust network of partners, each contributing their unique expertise to support the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. Together with the other partners, the coordinator aims to create a robust support system for teachers and school leaders, equipping them with the confidence to incorporate this powerful tool. As such, they perform the following functions:
- The Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg is the project coordinator and is leading the way in cutting-edge AI research in education, ensuring practical solutions for teacher training.
- The Institute for Information Technology (OFFIS) ensures that AI applications in schools are both relevant and user-friendly.
- The European School Heads Association (ESHA) uses its extensive network of school heads and communication channels, including magazines, conferences, podcasts and policy collaborations, to disseminate AI-driven innovations. The association also helps to strengthen micro-credential initiatives by promoting the effective adoption of AI in schools.
- The Basque International Research Association (BIRA) uses AI-driven microcredentials and researches innovative teacher training strategies. It supports digital solutions with a solid pedagogical foundation.
- Mentortec is responsible for developing a digital training platform, a gamified micro-credential app and an AI chatbot to support educators. Thanks to its extensive experience in entrepreneurship and training, Mentortec can ensure the effective implementation of AI in educational institutions.
- OCNOS-FAP incorporates AI into vocational training to enhance the use of digital tools in technical and vocational education, placing a particular focus on practical, labour market-based learning.
- The Águas Santas School Group and the San Viator Centre are educational institutions that provide valuable insights into the classroom, helping to adapt AI tools to the needs of everyday teaching.
- The University of Pau and Pays de l’Adour is an institution of higher education that ensures the ethical guidelines and policies surrounding the use of AI are adhered to.

Challenge: Making AI accessible to everyone
Integrating AI into education poses challenges, but the EduAId Project is ready to address them. Some of the challenges that were mentioned during the kick-off meeting include data privacy and ethical considerations. Additionally, while many teachers are eager to use AI, they require structured guidance. It is equally important that AI tools support all students, including those with diverse learning needs.
The EduAId partners are committed to overcoming these challenges. The next phases of the project will focus on creating a micro-credential system and AI training modules, and investigating the impact of AI on teaching and learning. Collaborating with educators, school leaders, and policymakers will be crucial in ensuring that AI benefits the entire school community.
A shared vision for the future of AI in schools
The synergy created at the Oldenburg meeting made it clear that the goal is not just to implement AI, but to ensure that it works for teachers, school leaders and students. Through collaboration, research and practical training, the partners will ensure that AI becomes an empowering tool for educators, rather than a daunting challenge. This project is paving the way for AI to transform schools in an engaging, effective and accessible way for all.
