The All Aboard: Creating a community of ecological agents of change during childhood project, of which Mentortec is a partner, has the main objective of promoting a holistic education approach that empowers children to be creative and innovative leaders who care about the sustainability of the planet.
The project is based on the development of sustainable activities that are planned to be implemented in schools in three of the partner countries: Sweden, Portugal and Turkey.
Supporting children to lead change.
On October 2023, Mentortec hosted the international session of the Teacher Training Programme: Supporting Children to Lead Change (CBoT) in Matosinhos. At the heart of the session was the aim of training teachers from primary and secondary schools in the three countries involved with tools to support pedagogical intervention in promoting environmental sustainability, as well as planning the development of the mentoring programme envisaged by the project.
The international CBoT was subdivided into two main areas of training: the first was aimed at enabling teachers to promote positive attitudes and behaviours when addressing issues of energy consumption, waste disposal and recyclable waste, facilitating the identification of skills to work on with children, and the second was the planning of development strategies for the mentoring programme entitled Workshop for Little Mentors.
The two days of immersion in the dynamics of the project enabled the teachers to acquire and develop competences in education for environmental sustainability.
The materials to support the CBoT can easily be adapted to the specificities of the educational contexts, ensuring the fundamental learning and proficiency of the initiative.
